Give the gift of self-sufficiency. You can help folk artists help themselves by sponsoring an artist(s) or artists’ group to come to the Market.
The Santa Fe International Folk Art Market provides full financial assistance to 25-30 artists each year who are first-timers to the Market and who demonstrate a need.
What does my donation cover?
Donations are an investment in the artist’s success at the Market. They cover international airfare, lodging, local transportation, meals and hospitality while in Santa Fe and other Market related costs.
During the past two Markets, artists have earned on average $14,000-$16,000 per booth. As a result of earnings at the Market, artists have reported that they have been able to purchase land, build new studios, run health clinics, hire teachers and start schools, pay for school fees and books, and buy farm animals that bring additional wealth.
How much should I give?
Full sponsorship of an artists’ cooperative is $10,000 and of an artist is $5,000, however any level of sponsorship is welcome. Here’s what your donation will help pay for…
- $25 + Helps provide two lunches for an artist during the Market
- $50 + Helps support importing costs and warehousing of artist goods
- $100 + Helps underwrite the cost of plastic sheeting and display supplies
- $250 + Helps underwrite the cost of local transportation for an artist
- $500 + Helps underwrite the cost to provide a booth for an artist
- $1,000 + Helps underwrite the cost of hospitality for one artist
- $3,000 + Helps underwrite the cost of an artist’s international airfare
- $5,000 + Helps underwrite the cost of one artist to attend the Market
- $10,000 + Helps underwrite the cost for an artists’ cooperative to attend the Market
