Taykeo Sayavongkhamdy preserves the craft of weaving through teaching. She founded the Taykeo Textiles Gallery in 1989, starting with 7 looms, to restore and sustain Lao textile traditions to their full dignity. Young weavers from remote villages and hill tribes learn weaving and entrepreneurial skills in Taykeo’s training program in Ventiane. Taykeo quietly and persistently supports provincial weavers today by offering free accommodations and looms to young women from the provinces.
