Embroidery
From ancient times, the Kyrgyz people have led a nomadic way of life in the mountains and the steppes, in both hot and cold climates. They wore layered loose and comfortable clothing, adding extra skirts and linings in the winter. Everyday clothes were functional with less elaborate embroidery and accessories. Clothes for special events, festivals, and celebrations were made from more expensive fabrics and featured elaborate embroidery. Tatiana has researched traditional Kyrgyz clothes and created collections that she uses to conduct master classes. Her students are learning to value Kyrgyz folk art and develop their artistic sensibility through their traditional cultural heritage.
Tatiana Vorotnikova received the UNESCO Award of Excellence in 2006 and 2007. The Studio of Tatiana Vorotnikova received the UNESCO Award of Excellence in 2008.
