At a young age, Serzhan Bashirov took an interest in making handmade jewelry after learning about metal work and the meaning of ornaments from his father and grandmother. Bashirov then went on to study jewelry making and participated in several regional and international events.

Kazakh jewelry is made by hand from silver using traditional tools and methods, and marks the different stages of a person’s life. More ornate pieces are often given for special occasions such as weddings, births, and holidays. 

Bashirov’s excellent craftsmanship has earned him the UNESCO Seal of Excellence for three consecutive years.
