Nino Tchatchkhiani is one of several artists who work in collaboration with the Georgian Textile Group to produce a variety of textile crafts representing a broad range of local traditions from different areas of Georgia. These include felt carpets, dolls, animals, pins and flowers, as well as embroidered dresses, cotton coats, shawls, and hand embroidered works of cross-stitch and golden thread embroidery, including purses, bags, bracelets and belts. The Georgian Textile Group works to create international awareness of Georgia’s traditional and contemporary textile arts. Artisans and researchers work in collaboration to revive Georgia’s textile heritage, to provide an income for its artisans, and to preserve their various craft techniques, many of which are passed along through family members.
