Mukolo House
Baskets
Namukolo, who lost her hearing because of a childhood illness, learned Mukulwani Palm basket-making through silent observation. She developed a signature style by overlapping layers of palm to produce an embroidered effect. This style has earned her the title of Best Palm Weaver in Limulunga. With last year’s earnings from the Santa Fe International Folk Art Market, Namukolo purchased a bed and other household items. Her earnings from basket-making supplement her income from a rice paddy and maize field.
