Baskets
Coiled and needle-stitched palm baskets serve a variety of utilitarian purposes among the Lozi people of western Zambia. Lozi baskets make use of traditional natural dye techniques to obtain the distinctive ebony black and orange coloration. Kabai learned the art of palm basketry in a school craft class and after watching elderly village men and women at work. She is now one of the master weavers of the Kasholwasholwa Women’s Club.
