Burnished Clay Pots
The Purépecha village of Huancito, in Michoán, is justly famous for its handsome burnished red ceramics with their finely-lined images of butterflies, flowers and hummingbirds. Elena and Bernardina both learned the tradition from their mothers, who are national prizewinners themselves. The “tower of pots” allows quantities to water to be stored a relatively small area within each home.
