Embroidery

In 2002, a group of women in the village of Poop in the Yucatan opened a workshop in order to learn the art of embroidery. Weaving and embroidering have long been part of the local cultural traditions. The embroidery workshop seeks to keep these traditions alive within the community. The women embroider cotton and linen fabrics and make tablecloths, napkins and bags using a variety of stitches such as solid, qualified, shaded, penetrated, renaissance and grid.
