Silver Jewelry
Educated as an engineer, Angel could not find work during Peru’s period of political insurgency in the 1980s. His village of San Jeronimo, known for its silver work, gave him an opportunity to develop what started out as a hobby into a vocation. Angel uses a lost-wax process to create traditional forms such a tupus (shawl pins) and earrings. Angel attended market last year and invested some of his profits by purchasing a piece of property in his villages, new tools, classes in English and marketing, and an alarm clock--so that he could start his day earlier.
