Embroidery and National Costume from Chuvash Republic
The intricate embroidered work form the Chuvash Republic of Russia is unique to this region. Anastasia learned her craft as a child and refined her skills during her years attending the Kalinin Arts industrial college studying carpet and embroidery designs and production techniques. Her specialty is the production of Chuvash traditional items whose origins can be traced back many centuries. Her pieces are all handmade and many of the threads are hand spun. She incorporates intricate weaving techniques in some of the costumes and these items must be seen close up to get the full appreciation of the skill involved in creating these items.
