imageNicholas Kristof, two-time Pulitzer prize-winning New York Times columnist and author of Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, will speak about his book at The Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe on July 7, 2010. The evening is presented by the Santa Fe International Folk Art Market, World Women Work and the Museum of International Folk Art and is part of International Folk Arts Week.

As part of the pre-market programs that take place during this special week, the 2010 Santa Fe International Folk Art Market holds business development and peer-to peer training with women artists in cooperatives from around the world. Over 80 of the artists participating in the program will be at this Nicholas Kristof event.

“Nicholas Kristof is a journalist who has spent much of his career working ‘in the field’ and truly understands the struggles of those who live in the developing world,” says Charlene Cerny, Executive Director of the Market. “He knows what an opportunity can mean for someone short on hope. To have him with us during International Folk Arts Week is not only a great honor, but will be an inspiration for anyone who aspires to become a better global citizen.”
