Is there parking at Museum Hill where the Market is held?
No. There is no parking available for the public (except for a very limited number of parking spaces for people with official handicap placards only) on Museum Hill where the Market takes place during the weekend. Please note that all of the City of Santa Fe buses are ADA complaint and we strongly encourage you to park in either of the public lots to avoid delays getting to the Market. In addition, there are several road closures in the immediate area on Old Santa Fe Trail, Camino Lejo, Camino Pinones, and Camino Corrales with the possible addition of others.
Please park at the free parking lots at the either the PERA lots and take the free bus from the Lamy Building on Don Gaspar at the corner of Paseo de Peralta or park at the South Capitol Complex/Department of Transportation lots and take the free bus from the bus platform at the South Capitol Rail Runner Station. Please do your part to keep the market experience pleasant for all and keep all personal vehicles away from the Museum Hill area on Market weekend.
Are the Market, its parking and shuttles handicapped accessible?
Yes. There are some handicapped designated parking places near the Lamy Building where the buses will both pick up and return to the PERA lot as well as near the rail road tracks across from the bus platform at the new South Capitol Rail Runner Station lot. In addition, all buses are handicapped accessible and are equipped with wheelchair lifts. If you have any more specific questions regarding the shuttles please contact Santa Fe Trails Transit toll free at (866) 551-7433 for more information.
At the Market site every effort had been made to make your visit as easy and enjoyable as possible. All three areas of the Market site as well as the museums are handicapped accessible. An elevator is provided between the lower and upper levels of the Market. The food area is accessible as well, though there is a short incline that you must travel up and down to get to the dining area. If you find this too difficult to navigate there is also dining available at the Museum Hill Café on the upper level of the Market, recently re-opened under new management in May of 2010.
Wheelchairs are not provided by the Market so please bring one if you think you will need it. Inside the museums however there are wheelchairs available for your use while inside the museums only. They may not be taken outside onto Milner Plaza where the Market takes place.
Can I ride my bicycle to the Market?
Yes. Bike Santa Fe will be providing a bike valet service for those of you who wish to pedal your way to the market. The Bike Valet will be available starting at 8am on Saturday and 9am on Sunday. The service is free but donations are accepted. If you ride your bike, you must enter Camino Lejo from Camino Corrales for safety reasons. Camino Lejo is one-way (north) during the Market to allow the quickest and safest travel for our public shuttles for visitors.
Is there food available at the Market?
Yes. There is an International Food Bazaar at the Market. Though the vendors may change from year to year, you can expect international foods, often organic and fair trade, available from local vendors including Cameroonian, Asian, and Indian, Mediterranean, Mexican and traditional American hotdogs. The Museum Hill Café is also open during the Market.
May I bring my pet to the Market?
No. Pets are not allowed on Milner Plaza by state ordinance. Assistance dogs are allowed.
Are there any events for children?
The Market itself is a wonderfully exciting event for children. The countless new sites and sounds experienced at the market from the international music and dance performers to folk artists and art from over 50 countries will surely thrill people of all ages. For the very young it may be their first introduction to understanding the larger global community. In addition there a workshops and demonstrations held each day.
What do I do if a buy an item that is particularly large and fragile at the Market?
Most things you may buy are easily transportable on the buses. Feel free to take up more than one seat; the buses run constantly and there’s room for all!
If you do end up purchasing something- a large ceramic piece that is very fragile for example- that you physically cannot get on the bus without great risk to you and/or the item, we can help you get it home. If you find yourself in that situation just stop by the information booth on the upper level of the market and they can help.
The easiest way to handle such situations is by using PakMail, who are on site all weekend. They will wrap any purchase in bubble wrap for free!, box it up professionally if you prefer (though there is a fee for this), or even deliver it to you if you just want a reliable way to get it home without any hefting on your part whatsoever (again for a fee). They are great!
What happens in the case of inclement weather?
We are a rain or shine event. Most activities take place under cover, in beautiful white tents, in any case. Admission also includes entry to the two museums on the site.
Are tickets refundable?
No. All tickets are non-refundable.
