Saham is situated along the Batinah coast in northern Oman, bordered by the Western Hajar Mountains and the Gulf of Oman. Saham is considered to be the center of excellence for certain forms of silver work as well as weaponry. Once carried for security, weaponry – particularly the khanjar dagger – is now worn ceremonially. Mohammed and son Murad are from the Al Balushi tribe. The Al Balushi name is suggestive of the historic trading links to distant shores from which the Batinah culture derives.

The Santa Fe International Folk Art Market, a non-profit organization, produces the largest international folk art market in the world, and our success led to Santa Fe’s designation as a UNESCO City of Folk Art.
