Work by Haider Ali

When the seaport was built in Pakistan, truckers began decorating their trucks with brightly-colored, richly-detailed designs and embellishments depicting their aspirations and dreams. Haider Ali grew up watching his father and uncles do this in his village in Southern Punjab and learned quickly. In addition to decorating trucks, he now makes miniature decorated trucks as well as traditional items used by truck drivers such as bowls, plates and kettles. Although finding consistent employment has been challenging for Haider Ali, Tribal Truck Art has supported his work and has insured him a more stable income. Tribal Truck Art is also dedicated to preserving this beautiful tradition.

The Santa Fe International Folk Art Market, a non-profit organization, produces the largest international folk art market in the world, and our success led to Santa Fe’s designation as a UNESCO City of Folk Art.
